Question Tuffy Security Glove Box?

I have had the Tuffy security locking glove box in my rig for about a year, lately it has begun rattling like crazy. i have tried tightening the screws, re-adjusting it in the opening, adding foam pads around the edges and it still rattles.

before anyone asks, there is nothing in the box other than my owners manual.

anyone have any ideas?

I had the same problem. I wrapped on layer of electrical tape around the post that the latch secures to. That stopped it for mine, not sure if it will help on yours. You may have to adjust layers depending on how loose it is.

i tried the rubber bump pads and still had a rattle.

i took a piece of black duct tape and wrapped the latch post and voila! no more rattle!

could it be there is too much room between the post and the latch?

either way, no more rattle!

I hate to be the dumbass in the group -- but what part, exactly, is the latch post? Attached is a pic of the parts.

I see the latch bracket. But I can't tell if you folks are talking about the horizontal cylinder that the locking mechansim attaches to (which I would think would wear off any electrical tape pretty quickly due to the locking of the mechanism )? Or the part inside the "glove box" that connects to the latch -- and if so, what part of that ?

This rattle is KILLING ME!

I originaly installed my box in my 2dr sometime last year. now that i have the 4dr i did a quick install and opted not to install the lower bolt that the instructions said was optional. i started to develop a very bad squeek. last night i took the box out to drill the hole for the bolt and reinstalled everything. so either the addion of the bolt or maybe i repositioned the box slightly, eitherway no more squeek so far today.

I taped the vertical post on the latch bracket. I wondered how long it would last but it has been fine for months now. It was annoying before that.

I taped the bar that the latch secures to, but the rattle continued. So I took additional measures: I soldered all three sides of the "box" part of the glove box to its backing -- on both sides. I then used that plastic grip dip stuff to cover the solder. Now, no squeaks!!
