My next mod is definately going to be getting a front bumper.
I have always liked the looks of the AEV bumper, not so much the price.
The Rugged Ridge with the end caps and the hoop looks similar enough I would consider it.
Obviously its all about what you like best, but personally even though it's my favorite bumper I would pass up the AEV for the RR and get something else with the money you saved.

That AEV bumper is very similar to the ARB bumper and both come from brands with alot of history and experience in the off-road world. With that said, you also pay out of pocket for that history and expeirience through their products.
The Rugged Ridge brand is made for mass production and while that doesn't necessarily detract from function, it does provide a departure from cost.
I don't think I have ever seen a bumper just fall off without being coaxed into doing so by a rock or other means - so for whichever one you choose, I'm sure it will last. So in that case, go with what you like and with what your banker will allow

Rugged ridge- Made over seas , inexpensive , quality is hit and miss from what i have been told by many customers.
AEV - Made in the USA , expensive , Very high quality
Really it is hard to compare the two they are on way opposite sides of the spectrum.

I recently took off a Shrockworks front bumper and put on a R/R less the extended caps. I love the thing. It looks good, installed as they said it would, and seems strong enough for what I do. I did the same as you, and looked at the cost differential of what I paid for the Shrockworks, and what I paid for the R/R, and loved the difference. Now the only problem is getting rid of the damn Shrockworks so my wife doesn't have to look at it everytime she goes in the garage.....Bottom line is, you go for what you like and what you can afford, and make it work.
