Ok I can get a brand new OEM Soft Top all parts never opened for $500 or a Bestop Trek for around the same. Give me the pro's con's and which you prefer and why?
I personally think the Trektop looks great I just got mine this past Friday for right now I am going through the issues of being unfortunate enough to have received one that leaks at the seam but a new one should be waiting for me when I get home from work today or tomorrow. It is not the easiest thing to get up but at the same time neither is the OEM top. I think it is all preference you are prob safer going with the OEM top but at the same time the TrekTop Bestop stands behind and will do what they can to help you with any issues. I think its just a matter of which one you like more. You may need to do a little work here and there at certain spots to keep the water out at where it may leak in a few spots but hey its a jeep its meant to get a little wet. I love the TrekTop just wish I didnt get a leaky top at first which kinda put me off on it a little.
i have both and if i could only get one or the other, i would go with the OEM soft top. don't get me wrong, i love my trektop but there are times when the extra volume of space the OEM top will give you is nice to have and in the winter time, when you would have to keep the top on a lot, i think the OEM top will serve you better.

Hey WOL I wanted to thank you, I had my eye on a top by ORH and a little search on here fixed that. I'm a firefighter and we are loyal to our brothers. I would never hand my hard earned cash over to someone who stuck it to so many Jeep Brothers in the past. I brought it up once but wondered any chance you could do a JK Jeep sticker for firefighters? LOTS of Firefighters have jeeps. 3 at my station alone!!!
I picked up a 09 soft top with tinted windows for my Rubicon from another member on this board, and, at least down here in Georgia, I may never put the hard top back on.
The factory soft top is that good, period!

I was asking myself the same question last fall. I picked up a NIB OEM soft top from a fellow member here for $500. A little less than a Trek Top would have run me.
I've only been using it for two weeks, but given where I live, that two weeks has seen a reasonable amount of rain and two good little dumps of snow. (and three or four days of partial or completely open-air runs on the highway)
So far, the only complaint I have is that the rear quarter window's front edges don't do a great job of staying put when I've got the front half of the soft top open at highway speeds. That's a pretty small quibble, given the absolute CRUD weather that this top has kept my dry and comfortable through.
I'm happy with my decision. The Trektop looks great...but my softop is working like a charm.

I got the trek top because i wanted a soft top, wanted a new look, and wanted to be able to take the top off, store it in the jeep, and throw it back on in a matter of minutes. The trek top has done all these things. While it is not the quietest, and some have leak problems, it is still a great soft top. And was the right choice for since I only had a hard top.

The trektop is frameless, correct?
I think it looks good, but my conceren is this. I live in the mountains. How would it do with 4-6 inches of snow on it? The OEM top can handle this weight just fine.
I need new windows and I'm considering going with the trek top--at least in the summer anyway.

You guys have seemed to solve any problems of the Trek leaking water into the interior, so it's definitely a contender.
I have looked at the other tops/bikini/duster/etc. combinations, and I am trying to decide what to get to supplement my soft top.
I certainly don't mind gettting wet/dirty on the trail, but can't be walking into the medical job soaked from a rainstorm, and have no convenient ability there to even keep a change of clothing 'cause I work at multiple locations.
And trying to keep work clothes for carry in the Jeep in case of bad weather is a pain in the rear and just not really practical when you can run the factory soft top and have no need.
My soft top lets less water inside than my hard top did, and you could measure what it leaked in all the time I ran it with a shot glass.
