One inch wheel spacers
Have been running stock Rubicon wheels and tires with 1-3/4" Wheel spacers. Brings the rubber right out even with the fender flares. I am about to put BFG 35" MTs on the stock rims. Am I going to be sticking out way past the flares ? I have seen 1" Wheel spacers in the catalogs. Would these bump me out enough to solve any rubbing issues, while keeping the rubber under the flares ? Anyone out there with any pictures of either set up with 35s ?
unfortunately, the smallest size wheel spacer you can run is 1.25" and even at that, you may need to grind your wheel studs in order to clear them. 1.5" is typically the size you should be getting. having said that, keeping your tires under the flares will depend a lot on how wide they are and not how tall. if you run something like a BFG MT, you might be pretty good to go with 1.25" spacers as they are on the narrow side.
It looks like the stock Rubicon rims have recesses on the back bearing surface where the studs would protrude through when using a wheel spacer. I was thinking I wouldn't have to cut the studs ?
