Default Light Placement Question from Newbie

Hello all,
I just purchased a 08 X with 12k miles about 3 weeks ago. I think I'm already a bonified Jeep junky. Knowing nothing about Jeeps when I bought this thing, I have already put on the grill guard, an AEM Brute Force intake, and a Borla Cat-Back exhaust. Having owned a Tracker a few years ago, I have always yearned for a Wrangler. I'm totally lovin it. Most people I am encountering are diggin it too. This yellow JK, while looking a little blingy with the Moto Metal wheels gets lots of compliments. On one hand I kind of like the wheels, but I really don't like the 33 inch all terrain Cooper tires. From my tire research I think I want some 35's Toyas or Swampers. I don't think those big crome wheels are going to look right with that setup so I'm considering either a Pro-Comp or Dick Cepek set featuring a little more black metal. And, I guess I'll keep the Moto's as a spare set when I'm feeling metrosexual or something.

Anyways, my next mod ....which finally involves the reason for this post is about lights I'm adding. I want a long range set and a fog set. One is going to be mounted in the center of the grill guard and the other using the mounts up by the windshield. I like the look of the KC covers and such, so I already ordered a long range set. (KC HiLites Daylighter) My main question is...Which type of light should be mounted in which position? OR....should the fog lights be mounted on the grill guard or is it ok if they're up near the windshield? I am really hoping it doesn't matter because the globe type long range Daylighter lights I just bought will look better in the grill guard. I think Slimlights will look better on the windshield mounts. Will fogs create too much glare off the hood? Do they need to be placed lower? Unfortunately, I didn't think about all of this until I ordered the long range Daylighters that will fit the grill guard better.

I hope all this wasn't too confusing.

Proud to be a Jeepin and hope to wave to ya soon!

First thing is Very nice looking rig I think the crome wheels would look very cool with some swampers Next thing is that I have not been very happy with the effect that the windshield mount area causes. Tons of glare. They look cool there but dont work very well. JMO

I believe you should mount your fog lights lower down, to project the beam under the fog and onto the road immediately in front of the Jeep. This will minimize illumination of the surrounding fog, reducing glare and improving visibility. You should (IMHO) mount the long range lights/driving lights higher up, to allow them to project farther down the road. The preceding is, of course, if you're buying these lights for usability and not appearance. If you're just concerned about looks, do what pleases you.
