Emergency brake lines stretched after lift
As the title says, my emergency brake lines have been stretched from lift - which in itself is no biggie, but the problem is that because there is no play they are near my exhaust which has melted the protection and outer layer of the cable down to the bare cable on the driver side near the exhaust.
Anyone had this happen? Dealer wont warranty it because on a stock ride the cable has play and doesn't come as close to the exhaust - which I can understand.
The question becomes, what do I do now - I don't really want to replace the whole cable.

damn that sucks Jack, does the lift relocate it at all? I wonder if we will all run into this problem. The part is on moparpartsamerica.com for 20bucks though it probably sucks to replace
x2. i did the same thing and havent had a problem. my kit did come with a relocator that attached the wire to the body but it wasnt very happy when i tried to pull it all the way up. i guess the melted plastic shouldnt really effect its operation but to be on the safe side you may want to go ahead, bite the bullet and replace it. Also, to prevent this from happening again you could probably call superlift and get their relocator bracket for a couple bucks.
I have a Flowmaster muffler on mine and the cables come nowhere near the pipe or muffler. You could also re-route the cables underneathe the frame and drill a hole and use the stock hanger.Don't know if that would be farther away or not for your lift.

Jack--If the action of the cable itself has not been compromised (e.g., it still works to brake the vehicle, and you trust it to be there in an emergency), perhaps you could wrap the cable in some special tape. Here's one type:

Just remember, the emergency brake isn't called a parking brake for a reason: You really, really want to know that it will work in the event that you have a full brake system failure.
