Default recomended tire presure

Hey guys,

I just installed BFG 315/70-17 AT's on my ride and need some suggestions on a good, standard, recommended tire pressure. The place that mounted them put 44 psi in and I'm thinkn' that's too much. Because, after about 50 mile i inspected the tires and noticed about and inch of the inner and outer edge of the tread hadn't even touched the road. looked that way, anyway....Also, the ride was really "bouncy''.....Lowered the psi to 38 and it was a little better. But still cant stop thinking what the "right" psi should be...

Thx in advance,

Tony

I think those tires are a C load range and have a very strong side wall. Try running them at 30psi

Then take some side walk chalk and color across the tread. Drive straight for about 20-30 feet, that will tell you if you tires will wear evenly.

Good luck

the faq is definitely your friend.

having said that, with a set of 35's (essentially what you have), i would run about 28psi

OK, I aired down to 29psi and I really think that is where these tire work the best

One thing though, how do you get your TPMS to shut the hell up?? The light wont go off.. I thought they only act up when there is a 5-10 psi difference between one tire and another? If they are all at 29 psi exactly, why would they be tripped?

Thx,

Tony
