Default They cost how much?!?!?!

I wanted to get some longer button-head hex bolts for my mirror relocation brackets. I want them to look like the original ones from the windshield bracket. The only thing I could find long enough (which I will still have to cut back) are the bolts that hold the mirror to the door.

I gave the dealer the part number and asked what they’d cost me…. $5.90 each!! For one two inch bolt?!?!?
I never could figure out why OEM parts are so expensive? Greed? High union wages? Other cost’s recovery? Poor company management? What gives?

I used to work in an auto collision shop. I’m well aware of the cost of OEM parts; however, I was expecting about half that.

How do you think they pay all those upper management types to stand around all day?

6 dollar bolts want cover that but if you put that king of profit margin on everything they sell... WOW!

If only they could have convenced more people to be like that guy that bout his half doors piece by piece, they'd be OK. It think it com out to 7K for the doors. I've bought good cars cheaper than that, the whole car. (If you read this bro not knocking you, you want what you want and I'm with you on that.)

Just go to a good hardware store. I needed a small bolt for the hard top. OEM was about the same, $5 each. I bought all 4 at Home Depot for about $1.20.

I already did that. In fact I checked several places before I went to the dealer. I’m rather particular about what I want.
I’m going to talk to my old auto industries friends and see if I can’t get them for cost or a reduced price before I settle for something else.

Go to a Hummer site and get some chrome ones.

Sorry. I couldn't help myself.
