Default What color paint matches fenders/steel bumpers

I need to sand a bit of rust off of some ehanced Rubi rock rails. What color paint matches our fenders and Mopar steel bumpers?

Obviously, not gloss black. Plain black? Flat black?

I just have a little surface rust to eliminate, but figured I'd paint the entire part.

Thanks!

(was not sure if painting a part = modified...may need to move the thread)

It all depends on the paint manufacturer as well. If I were out shopping and needed to pick up a can I would go straight for the flat. The Mopar Off-road bumper is about as flat as you can get. If you paint a small area and find that it doesn't quite match your desires than you can always get the next step up that has slightly more gloss.

I was thinking that. Thanks!

You guys think the paint will adhere to the part I don't sand? Seems like it would since it's powdercoat.

Sanding is always the recommended way to go. Sometime sanding can mess up your finish if it's done with paper that's to gritty. Again it's a judgment thing. Going back to the "if it were me" thing.... If the bumper has a real flat finish then no, I would not sand. If it had a glossy finish, I would; even though I hate sanding

Default One-Step

I know of this "One-Step Rust Converter Primer" that workered really well on my 59' truck frame. This stuff sprays on and chemically reacts to convert rust into a hard black primer sealer. It might be the simi-flat black you are looking for without the sanding.

Can you spray it on top of the existing powdercoat? Or, did you sand/chip away the powdercoat?

Thanks!
