Switching from Rugged Ridge to LoD Bumpers?
I'm conflicted!!
I've got the Rugged Ridge XHD (non-winch) front bumper, and the XHD rear bumper. I love the look, love the bumpers, and they've been on the JK now about 2 weeks.
I thought I was happy, and then I (JUST) saw the LoD Gen 2 bumpers...MAN, I wish I would have gone that route (I think). HOW DID I NOT KNOW ABOUT THESE BUMPERS?
I've looked around in other threads on the comparision between the two brands...and I know it's like comparing apples to oranges, but I guess what I'm asking is if YOU just bought and installed the RR XHD front/rear, would you drop the new $$$$$ on the LoD bumpers to change them out, or stick with the RR stuff?
The LoD stuff is much more in price, but it's also made in the USA.
I'm seriously conflicted

Sometimes you must learn to be happy with the decisions you've made: Money spent on new bumpers could be money spent on other upgrades ... or maybe a trip to Moab.
However, if you still really want to change the bumpers, first look around and make certain those are what you want. I mean, you could order Shrockworks and wait 6-9 months for delivery--and they're USA-made--and meantime you have the RR bumpers.
If you decide to change bumpers, skulk around the For Sale section of the forum and see if you can figure out how much you can get for your RR bumpers. That may ease the pain of more expense.

Personally, i am considerably less than impressed with the RR bumpers, the ones i have seen where marginal at best. I know a lot of people like them, and the lower price that goes with them, and I understand that, but i just dont care for them personally.
The LoD ones sure are nice & I wouldnt mind them at all. There are so many options it is hard to pick. I really am torn myself on which i like the best: PJ, Hanson, Shrockworks or LoD. I do/dont like aspects on all of them. I wish i could throw them all in a jug and shake them up and see what falls out as a mix.
Ultimately though, it isnt what I would do with your money, its what you would do. I think Mark's advice is sound. If you like them, be happy and move on to your next mod/trip whatever, but if you really are unhappy with them, then it will probably eat at you and make you unhappy with your Jeep, and that isnt good (IMO). Selling them shouldnt be to hard to do in the for sale forums, and you are going to take a hit on them but it will help ease the cost of upgrading them some.
Good luck with your decision, i hope whatever it is makes you happy

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more I should have gone with LoD in the beginning...man I wish I had seen them before, plus you can't beat the fact it's a domestic product.
My original intent was to get the jerry can mounts and swing away stuff for the rear end, but I figured I could get that on the RR rear, then I saw that LoD bumper, and it's got the tire carrier, jerry can mounts, hi-lift mounts, trail rack, built in hitch receiver, rear spot lights, just a s--- hot bumper system.
And I'm one of those weird OCD type dudes that can't have two different style bumpers on my rig, so I'd be switching the front out for the LoD stubby also...which will hopefully make me get a winch later down the road.
I'm sure I could re-sell the RR stuff, but either way, I'm biting it.
Anyone got a time machine?

I personally dont think anything comes close to the RR front bar, but thats my own personal opinion. I had a ARB front bar on my 2dr JK for just under a year but as soon as i saw the RR i bought one straight away with winch mount, end caps, hoop, stinger and mount tube bumper. For the price you pay its such a versatile bumper and i love the fact that i can change it from a shorty to a full bumper set up depending on where i take my baby Jeeping or just what sort of mood im in lol. I too looked at the lod, nice bar thought it stuck out a tad too much though. either way do what ever you think will put the biggest smile on your face when your behind the wheel, cause after all its a Jeep, and thats all that really counts!!!!!!!
