Default 4" backspacing, 285mm (11.25") wide tire, rubber stop for spare doesn't make contact

So I just got new tires and wheels (procomp 8179s and 33" BFG KM2s) - looks amazing (show off pic coming later, it's dark right now), but i'm a bit worried about the spare - the rubber isolator isn't making contact with the sidewall of the tire, and according the newbie FAQ this may cause some problems due to rubber isolator not dampening any vibrations....

Because of the much wider offset and backspacing from stock, i've got over 2" of gap between the sidewall and the end of the isolator.

Besides buying a new spare tire carrier (or bumper with it included), do I have any other options? i've been digging on a few sites, and can't find something alongs the lines of an extended isolator....

Thanks!

I had the same problem when I went with bigger wheels and tires. I rumaged thru the garage and found two pieces of rubber(not sure where they came from), and trimmed them so that they fit inside thye stock bumper and extended out the distance I need to cotact the tire with a little compression. Look around, you should find something that will work!!!

Daystar makes extended ones that trim to size. I have also heard of people using a section of radiator hose pushed over the stock isolators.

I used the Daystar extended stops. I trimmed them with a knife and just screwed them in. Easy!!

Wink

I used the daystar extenders as well. I left them a little long so they would compress against the tire. Took less than 5 mins to trim and install. They have been on for two months and no rattles so far.
