Default Skid Plates / Sliders - Order of Install

Hi Everyone,

I think this is probably a question of preference; but, I was hoping to get the opinion of anyone who has installed sliders on a JK.

I purchased LoD sliders. The recommendation from LoD is to use one of the skid plat bolts for the forward bolt on each side. It was suggested to remove the bolt on each side and use the bolt to line up the slider so that the other holes can be marked for drilling and tapping.

LoD's recommendation is to sandwich the skid plate between the slider mounting attachements and the frame.

I want to be able to access all joints for the purpose of greasing and inspection. I am thinking that I might want to be able to remove the skid plate for doing this.

My question is whether mounting the sliders directly against the frame might be a better option since it will allow me to remove the skid plates without loosening the other slider attachment bolts. (Maybe I am wrong; but, I am thinking that I would need to loosen, or remove all of the LoD bolts in order to get enough play between the slider and the frame to remove the skid plate. It will also position the sliders directly against the frame.)

Thanks for any feedback.

Jeff

I see you never got any replies to your post. Now that it's been sometime, what did you do. Skid plates on the bottom, like you said. Or did you do it the way LOD stated, in the mid. I'll be getting these real soon myself.

I installed the skid plates below the sliders. Because I thought about replacing skid plates in the not too distant future, I thought it would be a better move.

I hope that helps.
