That's just my .2 cents though.

P.S. If I read your post correctly, it sounds like the hood is already painted black. Correct? Well, if you do decided to make the hood red, I have the info of some awesome, very legit powder coaters in Phoenix. They do an incredible job and their pricing is very fair in my opinion. If you're willing to make the drive to them, it's worth it and the whole process takes no more than 5 days tops.

Arizona Powder Coat
5301 E. Washington
Phoenix, AZ 85034

602-220-0553 (that's their number)

I use them for all of my custom parts that I fabricate, like my dual jerry can rack if you remember seeing that.

Good luck with the decision!
thanks RN! i bought jasons hood from wheelers for the wounded- next week he will be in town while camp crocker puts the burnsville hood on. his is allready black and YES i do want to go red!! i will call those folks in the morning to get prices-

The closest I could find was from a new member. His JK is silver and he has a black hood.

Lots of muscle cars through the early seventies had flat black hoods.....especially Mopars. It was a cool look. I had two. A 1971 440 Six Pac R/T Charger and a 1973 340 Rally Charger. Though they did not have full flat black hoods, they had a flat black "power bulge". I would say put it on and see how you like it. Red and black certainly go together.

The rig being built by Carolina Truggies has it, too. I'm kind of surprised no one else linked this in yet. It's pretty much going to be the most badass 2 door on here IMO. Here ya go.

The blacked out hood reminds me of the Camel Trophy Rovers... I think they primarily paint theirs black (with the rest of the rover yellow) to minimize glare off of hood. Always thought it might be badass.

thanks guys for the input and pics-

what i am going to do is take pics of before and what it looks like after-

as i explained to some of the guys here in az on the trail run is the 5.7 in my jeep seems to run above the halfway mark at 3000 rpms- i usually run that if i am going up a hill...

camp thinks it might be the 5.10 gears and suggested i should drop back down.
so we are going in 3 steps
first the hood
then trans coolers
and worst case back to stock gears...

if i do go back down in gears i might look for a trade- camp suggested new ones but trying to save money for house repairs and such.
