Default How Many have Death Wobble/Wheel Shimmy?

It's really starting to scare me! I'm in the process of pickin up a 2008 Rubi Unlt'd and have plans to put on Terraflex 2.5" with 35's.

Alot of reading I've done points to lifts greater than 3" being a possible culprit, but then I also read posts of STOCK JK's doing the same thing.

How many of you JK owners have/had it, and what turned out to be the problem, and what did you do to solve it?

Do not be afraid of the DW. I've never gotten it on mine and there are numerous members here that haven't either. There's several posts with suggested fixes/theories.

x2 Ive had it on both my XJ's, but not my JK. On the XJ's it was usually due to lack of maintenance on my part. I never used to retorque after wheeling. Now I do and I havent had a problem since.

That's my plan, and that's why I'm asking.

I'm asking how many, only to highlight whether or not the majority have issues, or if it's just an unlucky few.

My feelings are the majority do not. Sure you see lots of posts about it, but lets be real, nobody wakes up in the morning and says, "Hey I don't have DW so I'm gonna make a post about it." I think it is human nature to not post the expected. On the otherhand, if someone has it, they wanna know why, hence the posts. I also think that the majority of those who have had it, found the problem and resolved it.

One last point.....You yourself noted that even many with stock Jeep have experienced it. This tells me that a quality lift installed and maintained correctly will not cause the problem.

In short....lift it, wheel it....enjoy it.

The last time I went out wheeling, I aired down to 20 lbs and had it twice before I could get air back in the tires. Just so happens I had to cross 2 sets of RR tracks before I could get to the first place for air. Scary stuff! I thought something had come off the jeep. I only have 4000 miles on mine. 4" Teraflex lift with 35's, but nothing before or after. When I got home, I noticed my stock steering stabilizer was leaking and replaced it. Hopefully that takes care of it.

Cool no issues

I had it bad on my 06' TJ, no problems on my JK. 4" Skyjacker with 35' ProComp XMT's. Have a good mechanic do an alignment after lift and use proper wheels with correct backspacing, should have no issues.
