Default Jeep Jamboree Should I go?

The wife and I are planning to go on our first trail ride this September. There is a Jamboree in Ourav Co. Sept 17 -19th. Should we really spend that much money to go/ Has anyone been to this or any other Jamboree and was it worth it?

I went to 3-4 Jambs per season from 1999-2004. I had a blast. Enjoyed the fact that they are skillfully guided. I met some great people.
The Jamborees are expensive. And you might do some damage to your Jeep.
Worth it. Yes. I'd like to go again sometime. I do miss the 2 that were in PA.
Pocono & Paragon. I was within 2 hours driving time.
Anyway, Most people like the Jambs other than the expense. You might sit on the trail for a while. The trails do not move like a small club ride. That did not bother me. I liked the entire trail ride from start to finish. Was depressed when the Jamboree was over. Sort of a GOOD letdown.
Some Jambs are better than others. The guides make a difference also. Hopefully someone can recommend a good JJ in your striking distance. Good luck. Have fun. Try one.

EDIT....if the Jamboree has a 101 take it. You will learn and have fun. Don't try to set any records. Start out with a low rated course and go from there.

I don't have any insight, but I'm also thinking of doing one this fall. Seems like fun.

They have one next weekend here in WV, it's at Snowshoe for those familiar with the area. I was all about it until I saw how much it was to register!! That turns into a very expensive w/e when you add up lodging, food, gas, etc.!! I was totally turned off by the $295 reg fee, that's friggin ridiculous!!

SnowShoe is a good one.
My bigge$t gripe is the fee for the passenger. Same as the driver.
The best deal financially for wheeling is to join a local club and go on monthly trail rides.

i agree that is a lil ridiculous. heard rumors/read somewhere they were going to make it an option where you pack your own food and only have to pay for the guide next yr so it would be a lot cheaper!!
plus the snowshoe trip is more expensive then the williamsburg one

if ur from that area MOR is having a charity ride at swiss wv over the weekend. great riding, and a good group of guys

I went on a couple back in the 90's. Got my plates on thier catalogue once too. $300 is a lot of money, but pretty comperable to other hobbies like skiing where a lift ticket for 4 days can set you back $300.

We spent a lot. 2 passengers. Motel, fuel, food (Thurs night) and damage repairs here and there.
Loved every minute of it. The fun is priceless. It is a definitely a weekend away and something to look forward to.
Anyone that has an interest should try it. But I warn you...JeepJamborees are addictive.

x2 thats what you should really do, join a club, they'll have a lot of experienced members that can teach you just as much or get some other members from here to go on a run with you, you can still learn from them and its FREE, the prices they charge are ridiculous, specially when they are charging it to ride on public land, yes I know some areas its all private land, they do one in NJ that gathers on private land but 90% or more of the trails they run are on public FREE land. NJ rangers are actually getting pissed about it also.
