Question Front Differential breather tube?

I'm a new 07 Rubicon owner and know next to nothing about 4 wheel drive so I am just guessing as to what I am looking at.

There is a tube coming out of the front differential that runs up along side the front driver's side shock absorber that has a cap on it. I am assuming it is a breather/vent tube. I noticed oil on the driveway and found that oil had come out the top of the tube and run down.

I have only had it 3 weeks and haven't added any oil so I don't see how it could be over filled.

I'm not driving it until I can get it to the dealer but I was just wondering if anybody might know what could cause this.

Thanks

What you described does in fact sound like the differential vent tube. You may not have added any lube, but it could have been over filled at the factory and the recent elevation or temp. change caused the fluid to expand. If you pull the top plug on the pumpkin the fluid level should be level to the bottom of the hole, without spilling out.
