Just wondering if the jeep wave is dying off? Seen alot of follow jeepers not waving back when waved too what's the deal? Also just wondering is it ok to wave at the jeep compass or what till they wave first... Let's keep the wave alive pass it on to all follow jeepers.. So what type of wave do you do?
1. Full wave though window
2. Fist pump outside roof
3. 4 finger well holding on to the wheel
4. 2 finger wave
5. Peace sign
6. Full wave outside drivers door
7. 1 finger well holding on the wheel
8. Or my fav the bulls horn/ devils horns

I was always under the impression that the wave was to wranglers and CJs (some say cherokees) only, so not the compass.

The jeep wave as I understand it is to wave at someone who enjoys the capability, and uniqueness of a wrangler and the drivers desire to off road in a way that other vehicles can't match

 

That's good to hear because I have a jk and my wife has a compass so I don't have to wave at her but I guess I still have to talk to her right

 

I only wave a Wranglers. Usually the fingers on the steering wheel, unless the doors are off - then it is out the door. The only thing I liked about the Compass and the Patriot was that they made the Liberty look cool....well I cared when we had a Liberty - so no wave for wannnabeees.

 

Funny story about the wave,

I was in a "convoy" of about 40 moded wranglers last month driving along a small winding highway.

This kid in a TJ begins waving to the first in the line and continues to wave 40 times until he rear ends a kia around Wrangler #35.

Lesson: Love the wave but remember you need at least a finger, a knee or whatever else on the wheel.

 

I've done all of the ones that you've listed. I do prefer #8 though.

 

i have an unlimited and i'm sad to say it's this version of the wrangler that may have killed the wave. like a post above, the wave is coming from / returned by someone who has the appreciation for an offroad vehicle. i notice since the unltd's came out most people who drive them just got them because it's the new hot 'suv'. honestly, it's freakin' july and HARD TOPS are still ON!!!??!! most of them are sahara's so i KNOW YOU GOT BOTH!

you can tell right away who's going to wave back at you and who won't. i still wave, but when i don't get it back i mutter to myself 'a$$hole' and chalk it up to them being yuppies who got the 'chrome trim' package to make it look like a hummer. whatever man. this is my take on the dying wave anyways.

we passed by a brand new deep water blue sahara yesterday on the way back from wheeling full of frat boys, there were 3 of us filthy from the trails. not one of us got a wave back...i'm certain he was on the way to the mall to check out the latest froghurt stand anyway...so i muttered a$$hole and my buddy muttered a$$hole on the cb and we kept driving.

 

If it says JEEP on it, I wave.

 

Rather than blowing the proverbial gasket you should just aggressively wave at them. I've made it a point to wave at the 4drs (and mind you there are plenty of 2drs who don't take off their tops and wave) and make it obvious. I've broken many of them down and my Dad who drives a 95 sahara has seen those I have broken waving at him.

The wave didn't start spontaneously... it began with a few people. Do your part, stay true to it and when possible explain it to people. I've struck up many a convo at gas stations with new 4dr's and 2dr's. Asked them why they hadn't taken their tops off yet reminded them to wave religiously. Sure you won't convert some of them but muttering asshole under your breath ain't gonna fix anything.

Oh and I'm an x-frat boy and I'm sure you'd love it if they just called you a dumb redneck or tree hugger etc. as they went by... to each their own bro. You may just find the Jeep as common ground to walk on I know it's made me strike up convos with people I'd usually never talk to. Granted you can't save them all but its always worth a try

Oh and Red... I can't bring myself to wave at patriots or compasses... liberties are pushing it too.

 

My daugther just got a Rubicon unlimited and is pissed when she does not get a wave back. She is almost to the point of giving up on the wave. My wife also gets pissed when she does not get a wave back while she is in her 2 dr Rubicon.
