Question Calling hardtop owners

Can you drive a two door JK hardtop without the doors on or do you risk the top getting damaged by the drag? I'm specifically concerned about the rear window being overcome by drag. Obviously, there could be an impact on MPG as well, but this is a lesser concern.

(Note: I'm considering making the switch to a hard top, but only if I can pull the doors and drive without 'em - my favorite way to motor around is with a 'roof' over my head + no doors.)

TIA!!

more specifially, yes you can

I've run with the back window open and doors off and had no issues with the back window shock failing either, if that is a concern.

There is a vent in the tailgate to help with the pressure. Look behind your tire carrier and you will see little flaps that open up when air is pushed though the inside of the Jeep.

Anyone know how heavy the factory hardtop is? I'm looking for an exact weight here, or close to it (because I'm going to do new springs in back when I get my rear bumper/tire carrier and the top).

IIRC, I seem to recall, 120lbs. The freedom panels are 15lbs each.....I think. I'm searching... Saw 92lbs on a post, so if the panels are 15lbs each, 122lbs for all of it.

Oh, the .... on my first comment was due to you have to have 10 characters to make a post, so a simple "yes" wouldn't work!

There wouldn't be too much of a difference with the windows down vs no doors at all

But yes, you can have a hard top on and no doors.
