Default When/what to buy?

A buddy of mine is looking to purchase a JK. What are the thoughts on new/used? If new, what's the best time to buy? Just looking for general ideas here - it's too hard to say what his ultimate plans are for modifactions.

Also, for anyone within a couple hundred miles of the Northwest Arkansas area, if you know of any dealers that have some deals, I would appreciate any info. Thanks in advance.

Get half doors!

Even if he doesn't want them, get them. He can sell them at a premium due to the supply/demand.

Buy before '09's are gone.

Buy new for warranty.

Should be able to get around 15-20% off MSRP on a new X.

I say check the "for sale" section. For the price of my brand new 08, I could have picked up a used 08 or 07 with at least $5K in mods for several thousand less.

He should buy a Rubi even if he does not wheel it. It's now the only one with 4.10 gearing, D44 front, lockers and overall higher resale. There's other stuff, but that's what was important to me.

Buy at the end of the month--within the last couple days. Dealers get bonuses/incentives from the manufacturers and they always struggle to make their goals. Giving the buyer a few bucks off is usually in their best interest to seal a quick sale.

I bought mine at a great price, and my after calling my old man and telling him he got hella jealous. Dad (getting a case of jeep fever - he used to own a CJ way back in the day) went to the same dealership 2 weeks after I had gotten mine, and they said something along the lines that chrysler was done restructuring and that wranglers were selling so well during their restructuring that they were set to sell out of them before the 2010s hit the lot, and that they weren't giving any incentives for them til then.

So if you want new, I'd say you missed the buck and should wait til the 2010s hit the lots.
