Responses From 2009 Wrangler Owners.....
If you own a 2009 JK please post up your answer. Thanks.
In the light that so many people are having engine noises and some(such as myself) have had new engines installed, I would like to know if any of you 2009 owners have any engine noises. Particularly the "tick" at startup or and associated knocking. I would like to get a feel as to whether or not Chrysler addressed this issue with the 2009 model year.

I have a 2009 Rubicon, 2 door, M6 with about 6500 km's on it. I don't have any engine knock, but I do have something that sounds more like a minor exhaust leak........I guess that could be the tick you're talking about?
Now if you really want to hear a knock (actually it's piston slap), come by and listen to my '02 Firehawk. Almost every LS1 F-Body has some form of piston slap, but it goes away after about 45 seconds or so once the engine starts to warm up. I hardly notice it anymore..........at least I can't hear it as much since I installed the long tube headers, high flow cats and loudmouth exhaust

I have not noticed one in my 09, build date Feb 2009, with 2900 miles on it. The one that I was going to buy, 2008 Sahara with 25K miles, from a friend, seemed to have a ticking noise when I was looking at it. Back in June it started ticking bad, he got a new motor.
I will listen more closely and see if I can hear anything and report back.

See my post above, the dealership told him that the motors had a defective part in the older ones, or something like that. I need to ask him what they actually told him.
2009 Rubicon 2dr with 6speed. 7500 miles, no ticks or knocks. Switched to Royal Purple Synthetic for ALL fluids at 500 miles, using fram tough guard filters. Very smooth on start-up and throughout the rpm range.
Now the damned stock exhaust placement is another story, beat the crap out of a few of them.
