my jk's days are limited...
well i came to the decision the other day that i will be getting rid of my jeep. i just am thinking that i never get to get off the pavement with my job and could use a little more comfort and practicality, since i almost exclusively drive on the highway.. i am trying to pass the cpa exam and going trailriding doesnt factor into that goal at all.
i know i am going to get yelled at for this but oh well..
i plan on getting a small truck like a tacoma 4 door.. if i can find one for a good price..
i wont be entirely jeepless though as i have an 84 cj-7 i plan on restoring..
also let me know what you think a good asking price of the jeep would be, it has 27,000 miles on it right now and the stuff i have done to it is in my signature.. thanks alot fellas. sorry to dissapoint..

I really think that few if anyone here's going to yell at you for your decision. We're not the ones making the payments and we're not the ones who live your life so who the hell are we to yell at you! In the end, you have to make the decision that makes the most sense. Frankly (and I've been guilty of this in the past), sometimes we hold onto something that we shouldn't just because of emotional attachment and suffer (usually financially) for it. If the JK isn't the right fit for you, get out there and get something that makes sense for you. Frankly you can't go wrong with a Tacoma. My buddy has one and swears by it.
P.S. Nice rig! You won't have any problems selling it.

Timing is everything, this might not be your time.
I will say this, YOU will yell at YOURSELF for selling it. Might not be today, tomorrow, or next year, but you will be driving down the road and you will see one, that will remind you of this one, and it is like a slap in the face.
Condensed version of my story: Got out of Army Basic training, (National Guard) back in 1990, bought an 89 YJ. Put tires, rims, lift, bumpers, etc on it, drove it for few years and had it in college, lots of fun times in it in college, met a girl, she moved back home 2 hours away, over the summer I was going to be driving a lot until I moved down to where she was (Memphis). Jeep needed transfer case work. Traded it in for an Nissan Maxima. F'n hated that car. Was sad. Fast forward, when I still see a YJ, especially a Red with Kaki top, I wish I wouldn't have gotten rid of it.
If you need to get rid of it, there will be a time you get back into one. It took me almost 15 years. That's a lot of drool.

You could do what I've done, I work 100 miles from where I live so I bought a Hyundai Elantra new for 12k, sticker was 16k. Car payments 240 a month, all my highway driving and depreciation goes on the car and my jeep is waiting for me for the nights and weekends, I've been averaging 5k a year on the Jeep so the paying for the car also helps in knowing my jeep is going to last that much longer.
yeah i hear yall on the fact i will miss it, but i still have my cj-7 and i will always like older jeeps better than the newer ones.. just me because it was my first car and i still have it.....
thanks alot fellas again.

It sucks that you're having to do this but you gotta do what you gotta do. Good luck to you in the future. We hope to see you again. You definitely won't have any problem selling that but I have no idea for how much.

thanks man.. i am hooping if i stick it out on the road for like maybe 20k i can get some bites.. but we will see. i know i wont get the money out of the lift and all that but you gotta try a bit..
i have had my jk for over 2 years and love it. i also have an 85 cherokee i drive to work and run around in so i get to keep miles off the jk and save the expensive rubber. but when i need to make a trip to st. louis or springfield which are a few hours away i have to take the wrangler since i dont think my cherokee is dependable for a long trip. my brother just bought an 07 4 door tacoma and it is sweet. sometimes i think i should just trade my jeep on something like that also. his truck get around great in the mud and brush during deer season and very comfortable to drive on long trips. you cant crawl rocks with it but it is a good choice for a lot of people. when i get behind the wheel of my rig though any chance of EVER getting rid of it goes out the window their is just nothing like a wrangler man. so i figure forget being practical you only live once you know!
