Default ProCal - or Superchips Flashpaq

is the super chips really worth the over 2X of a price tag ?

I have 35's I wana get my speedo correct and Millage back to normal.
I want to get my TMPS off for good
I have exhaust and plan on a drop in filter and a snorkel in the near future.
I would like get some more performance out of it but to be honest thats not going to MAKE my decision over all... though She shifts like a wacko and I would rather her more steady on shift points... (i have stock 410 gears)

Is there anything that I dont know about???

EASE OF USE is big for me... and the ability to switch it back on a whim and not have the dealership know would be nice....

Anyone who has one or the other it would be great to hear pros and cons and not just fan boy stuff for flames

thanks team

I have both for my 09 2 door. The ProCal is very fast and works well for speedo and tire corrections along with TPMS, but does nothing for performance. The Flashpaq does take longer to set up and use, but in my opinion it works better and has alot more features than the ProCal. It also does well on performance and is upgradeable for future tweaks or features, the ProCal is not. From a buyer's standpoint if your short on cash and want to adjust your lifted JK for tire and or gear ratios along with speedo adjustments the ProCal is great. If you have the cash and want more out of your rig, along with future upgrades, go for the Flashpaq. Just my .2 cents

Even if there would be no further upgrades or changes in the Flasgpaq, it'd be worth every cent!
Superchips now has the TPMS adjust option, and are working on the disable option. The performance tune settings are evolving as well. The latest 93 tune I m now running is far better than the earlier one.
The other features are terrific also, and I am hopeful they will upgrade the lockers option for use without the unit plugged in. It also seems quicker to load a tune/options now than it was at first. It is sufficiently fast that changing it for the trail wouldn't take as long as airing down/up your tires.
Running the 91 or 93 tune gives me enough of a performance boost that changing to 4.88/5.13 gears is way down on my list of priorities. I do a fair bit of interstate cruising at 80+mph so the 4.10 gears with the 35" Toyo tires and 6-speed works rather well now that I have the Flashpaq.
I'll probably end up with 5.13 gears, but that will be when I upgrade to 37" MTRs on the factory Rubicon rims, a stubby front bumper, and tube fenders.

Both are fairly easy to use to be honest.

The ProCal uses DIP switches. You find out which position to set them by using thier handly laminated refrence card. There is some very basic math involved in calculating the setting for tires but that's about it.

The ProCal was really designed to change the tire size settings in the factory firmware of the JK. To my understanding by changing the tire height setting in the JK it automatically recalculates the shift settings for the automatic transmission, but does not adjust them for increased performance. Basically it's the same as taking your JK to the dealer and having them change from 30" tires to the Rubi's 32" tires.

The ProCal is FAST at programming, likely due to just changing a variable in the firmware of the ECU. The ProCal is also small which makes keeping it in the JK easy. While it's great at what it does, it is limited.

The SuperChips Flashpaq is a completely different beast. It's an actually programmer, meaning it will re-write the parameters of the factory tuning for better performance. It can adjust the shift points, engine timing, fuel managment, and dozens of other options in the factory ECU to increase performance. It can also adjust the shift points no only to compensate for larger tires and diffrent gears but to decrease "pedal lag" and stiffen up the shifting. It can also adjust for aftermarket upgrades like exhaust, intake, and other modifications.

The things that make the FlashPaq nice are that it takes all of those adjustments and puts them into prepackaged tunes or what we in the computer world call "macros". For example, there's a 87 octane tune option. That changes the shift points, adjusts the fuel managment and does a dozen or so other things to improve the performance of the JK's engine, all by simply selecting that as an option. This makes the Flashpaq SUPER easy to use. It's also firmware upgradable via the internet. That means as new features are unlocked and better tuning becomes available you can keep the Flashpaq up to date by simply downloading the changes into it via a USB cable. So in effect the Flashpaq is never out of date.

The downsides to the Flashpaq are price and speed. It takes about 5-10 min to reprogram the ECU of the JK using it. This is an eternity compared to the ProCal's near instantanious speed. The Flashpaq also costs more than twice as much as the ProCal, something more frugal JK'ers should keep in mind.

All in all, I'm extremely happy with my Flashpaq and the money I spent on it. It does what it says, has more features than I can currently use, and is a snap to work.
