Manuel Tranny
Ok this has been talked about before. the only answer i have found is that i may as well buy a new jeep. i have an automatic tranny and want to switched to manuel. i understand its not a simple swap. i have maaaaany reasons for wanting to do this PLUS one tranny that gave up the ghost.
What i want to know is an actual price. anyone know what the price would be fo rthis conversion. i dont want the whole might as well start over routine. i understand brunsville offers hemi conversions with a six speed rather not go that route yet.
i do not have the technology to flash the computer and mess with the computer crap in the jeep. a tranny swap is easy its the crap afterwords that worries me. any input is greatly appreciated

To start you will need more than the tranny. You will need the crossmember and skid plate, new rear driveshaft and the appropriate wiring harness (you have less connections now and can't just leave the wires hanging. From there you will need to have it towed to a dealership to have it flashed. I believe on the inside you will also need a new center console (I am prety sure they are slightly different). You will also need to add a clutch pedal assembly as well as a slave cylinder into the system.
Its not an impossible task, but can be an expensive and time consuming one. With modern vehicles your best bet is to find a doner vehicle complete that is the same as yours less trany (4dr for 4dr or 2dr for 2dr) and start swapping parts and harnesses. Going the junkyard route will probably leave you missing peices and buying all new will run alot more than you may think ( I read of one person doing it and it was somewhere near 10K all said and done with new parts). Good luck!!

I know you don't want to hear it but you should definitely add up the costs and see what it would be to make a trade.
Costs of parts and labor ( whether it's your time or someone elses ) plus the trade in value of your Jeep may be equal to or more than another Jeep with the configuration you want WITH a warranty.
You may be able to get away with trading in yours and keeping the same payments just by extending payments for a while longer, or by trading in yours and putting down the amount you are going to spend on a conversion.
You said in your post you really don't want to do that but unless you have a huge sentimental attachment it MAY be a better way to go.

ill have to keep a lookout for a wrecked jeep. thats probably my best bet. i dont have payments on the jeep. saved since i at 12 years old for one and bought it outright. and it has alooooot of sentimental value.....i jusst wouldnt want to regear only to see a slight decrease in temp. plus i dont trust this tranny when wheeling.
ill have to start pricing things up. may wind up to be more realistic to wait for a hemi AND tranny sway all at once.
