It's a bit too costly for my taste actually. I have been running Mobil-1 Full Syth since 1200miles and I now 30020 on the clock. Diffs changed over Mobil-1 syth at 25000. Next I need to change the Transfer Case fluid and the 6-Speed...

But I have used Royal Purple before in the Mustang... I just never liked the price of it.

I know a couple amateur MX and desert racers that swear by the Royal Purple lubes.

Some claim you can just keep reusing the same oil by changing the filter and adding a quart every 5K miles or so.

My best friend's dad worked for many years around heavy machinery in an industrial plant, and they always used Royal Purple in all of their equipment. They swore by it. To answer your question though, I just did my first oil change in my JK (2600 miles), and put RP 5W20 in. It kind of felt smoother at idle, but it was so subtle that I wasn't sure if it might just be a placebo thing. I will check my mileage though after this tank of gas and let you know if I had a change there. Can't tell much difference in throttle response or anything along those lines, but I wasn't expecting to either. I just wanted a good quality oil since I plan on driving this thing for a long long time. I also used a RP filter, and I have not had any of the valve noise some folks were getting with other filters that had faulty ADBVs.

I use RP in all my vehicles, its just my opinion, but it is worth the money. There was an episode on powerblock, first season i think. They changed all the fluids in an older ford deisel (f250) with RP and picked up something like 11hp and 17lb/ft. I know RP paid them for product placement, but still not a bad for $150 worth of fluids.

You can basically do this with any full synthetic oil. I know of an old old guy with an old Lexus LS (1993?) with over 350,000 miles and it's never had an oil change following this method.
Can't you see a mechanic asking him "When's the last time you changed the oil in this Lexus, you ol' fart!"
"I've never changed it, you punk!" he replies.
