Default 35's on stock rim question?

Ok I saw a huge thread with all the guys running 35's on stock rims. My question is any of you running this combo have any trouble with popping a bead? With the stockers only 7.5" wide, that is a concern for me. I would like to go this route that way I can save up for the rims I want, instead of having to settle for what I can afford right then. I know I have to run spacers for it all to fit, but I might have to run spacers to get whatever rim I choose to fit, if not I can sell them later. All input appreciated....well all useful input appreciated.

I've been doing it for 5 months. I've wheeled rocks, mud, water, wet rocks, muddy water, and dust (there's a story to that one) and haven't had the slightest of issues. It may not be ideal but I wouldn't think twice.

Nope, no problem. Mine have been on for a while now, and still haven't had any problems.

Default bead-popping LESS likely

A wide tire on a narrow actually makes it less likely to have the tire pull off the bead which allows you to run low pressures more safely. The problem (or potential problem) is that the tire will bulge and be higher in the middle causing the tire to crown.

Since I want my jeep to look just like Armycops, I will be putting 35s on my stock wheels as soon as I can justify the purchase to my wife.

I run mine aired down to 8 psi with no issues. Just don't take it to the dealer with them on.

Hi armycop, what tires & size are those? They look nice on the stock rims.

Hankook Dynapro M/T03 in the 315/70/R17 size. They actually measure about 34.25" since I run them at 27 PSI. When the tire dealer filled them to 40 PSI they were a lot closer to 35" but way too bouncy.

The only problem I've had with my 35's on the stock rim was getting them mounted. I went to a major national tire store and they denied me service becuase it's the "manufacturers recommendation" that the rims be 8". Anyways, I found a ghetto tire shop and they didn't ask any questions. But I've been running BFG KM2s for about 2 weeks, aired down to 14psi and run normally at 26 psi. No problems. I like the stock rubicon wheels!

Yup, one of the tire dealers I went to didn't want the liability of mounting a tire on a rim size smaller than the manufacturer's recommended rim width range. Another wouldn't touch the Jeep because it had spacers. You just have to shop around.
