Default Lift option for 35s

I saw this in the FAQs:
"Q: What size lift do I need to get in order to fit 35" Tires?
A: I would recommend a minimum of a 2.5" budget boost but a 3" lift would be a better fit. You can also install a 2" budget boost and 1" body lift to get you there as well."
Would using a 2" budget boost and trimmed/cut fenders get me to the same place as using a 2" BB and a 1" BL, thus allowing me to run 35s with only one significant mod? (I'd have to pay someone to do the 2" BB; I think I can trim the fenders DYI)?

That comment assumes stock fenders. With trimmed fenders/flats you can run 35's with no lift. Though if you go with wider than stock tires, check the sections on backspace/spacers.

Also, browse through some of the lift install write-ups before you decide to pay for the BB install. It may look daunting at first, but really isn't all that bad once you get into it.

Offer some pizza and beer to a few buddies and get busy. (or you might even try posting in the Staging Area for your neck of the woods and see if there is anyone close that might be willing to lend a hand)

Keep this one in mind also, for after the lift/tires are on.

Thanks for the great comments.
That last link is the reason I don't think I can handle this by myself...so many fine tuned adjustment...this is my first Jeep, I never work on anything, and have little tools.

I have Xenon flat fenders and my 35's wouldn't fit without a lift. I installed a Zone Offroad 3" for about $400.00. It netted 2.5 inches and they clear now at full stuff. BTW if your interested in a 5 hour road trip to the Berkshires I'll install your lift for free.

By that you meant that you rubbed when flexing?

Guess it all depends on how you use it, and how you set it up. People post quite often that they run 35's with no lift and stock fenders while waiting for parts to come in or more money to buy the lift or whatever. (though they certainly aren't out flexing) 35's with flats and no lift is doable if you're set up for it. Unless you're disconnecting and trying for max articulation, 35's with flats and a 2" lift should be no problem.

You can also install a 2" budget boost and 1" body lift to get you there as well."
If I remember correctly, planman has that setup 'with flats' and is running 37's. Lots of good pics to show the functionality...

I am running a BDS 3" suspension lift with 35's and stock fenders and have tested really maxing out the flex, articulation ramps, etc. and it just clears perfectly without any rubbibg at any angle.. gets real close though..

These are with 35" x 12" x 17 BFG Mud Terrain.. I think they may measure out just under 35"...

I'm running the RC 4" basic lift.. and I have Mickey Thompson 35x13.50x18's... every once in a while I'll get a rub on a compression but other than that.. it runs pretty good.

The only thing that sucks about the RC 4" lift is the cam bolt control arms adjustment....

I had to buy a set of Currie Upper front adj' arms to get my steering to stop being flighty.
