Default drive shafts

I have a '09 X and I am planning to go with a OME HD 2" lift, does this require any change to the drive shafts or should I be fine? I am planning do the suspension pieces etc) but unclear on weather I can get away with the D30 and D44.

you should be fine.... I did TF 2.5'' coil with shocks and no need on the 4 door

as for your axles (d30 + d44) the lift is not going to hurt you, its the weight of the tires thats going to have a factor, the grip on the tires... as in how wide of a tire you go and how hard you get on the skinny peddle and how rough you are in general....

shouldnt need Drive shafts on a 2'' lift though..

2.5" BB, 35's, upped my coils to OME HD and BAM, lost my front driveshaft.

I do drive a lot, after about 20K miles WITH the lift it went. (only 2 weeks with the OME coils.)
I have an Auto trans.

Well you need to keep in mind that a lift requires several components. If you dont use them all then you are bound to have consequences. most lifts are basic and dont include everything you need. the teeny tiny writing down in the corner tells you that you need other stuff to complete it. if you have all the components than you are good! I have had my lift on for 12000 miles and its no where near a problen and I have had the flex maxed out.

Hey folks,

I just bought a 4dr JK X last month so i'm in learning mode. I'm ready for my first list (2" to 3" either TF or Northridge OME kit) so i can get 33" to 35" tires, but my last concern is regarding the added strain on the drive shaft.

I see the stock 30" Goodyear tires weight about 34lbs, so jumping to a nice juicy 35" at 66lbs to 76lbs (depending on mfg) is a big increase.

Is there any technical info that indicates the effect on the driveshafts (stock 30/44), i.e. what is their limit?

I'm new, so be gentle with me.

Cheers
Nigel

hey Neal, thanks for the quick response and welcome.

Yeap, I spoke with David at Northridge last week and i'm eyeing thier package kit for a 2" lift with OME shocks, links, sway bars etc so i can adjust caster etc.

I should have stated previously that my number one aim here is to avoid (minimize) potential issues with my lifetime extended Jeep warranty, so I guess it's a case of less (mods) is better.

I'm thinking I should limit my tires to 33" and get the absolute mininal lift necessary, but then again to my dealer a lift is a lift.....

I personally went with Tom Woods 1310 shaft, bought it direct.

I could no duplicate my shaft hitting the tranny skid.. not even on my hilo, with added weight on the axle to get it to droop enough. Im thinking the boot tore from the driveshaft extending too far. and if I look closely at my torn boot, it pulled most of the boot from underneath the clamp.

I like the Woods shaft more than the stock, It eliminated a vibe I had (could have been caused by the torn boot)

Both of my axles are perfectly centered with adjustable track bars.
When I tore it, I was still running OE control arms in the front.

I know the band clamp on the boot hit the tranny pan some times, but I think the torn boot was actually caused by a rock, not my lift though. Won't ever really know for sure though

I got a Coast shaft from David @ Northridge that I'm waiting to put on.

Been running mine on the street with torn boot for 3 months so far.
So..you had no issues w/ the rear driveshaft? How much lift did you get in the front/back? I'm interested in this setup. Do you have any pictures of yours on level ground?
