Default Best Oil Type

Doing my first oil change on my 2016 Wrangler Sport. I was wondering what the best oil is for the Jeep. I live in the So. Cal high desert so extremes apply i.e. Cold in winter, hot in summer.

Whatever is on sale. If you change it on a regular basis there is no need for anything special unless you just like paying a lot of money for oil.

^^^ this......all day long. Change your oil and you're fine. I will say this, I've heard from a Chrysler tech that it is possible to set a check engine light for using a blatantly incorrect viscosity oil.

Probably because the variable valve train depends on oil pressure to operate correctly.
Also, the oil pump has two pressure ranges, which are monitored.

Oil that is too thick or too thin may cause pressure to be more or less than the computer expects to see.

I use Mobile 1 in the recommended viscosity. I change my oil every 7500-10K miles with an oil analysis every 1.5yrs or so.
