Default Folded windshield

Has anyone folded there windshield on 2 or 4 door JK’s? I’ve seen pictures in JK catalog but not on the street, looking at it doesn’t look possible unless everything becomes disassemble including the wipers. I like to try it just so I did it, between job hunting I have some time to kill, anyone have any recommendations before I start using my tools???

It's actually relatively easy. I have a buddy who goes windshield down on his JK for trail runs quite often. You have to take off the bar between your windshield and roll bar, and remove the windshield wipers, as well as that bracket at the base of the windshield. Then you fold the windshield and fasten it to the little loop on your hood.

I haven't done it myself, because I had problems with leaks in my Samurai and my YJ after folding the windshield, so I don't wanna break the seal on the windshield in my JK. It's illegal to run without it here anyway, so it would only be for the trail. Too much work in my opinion for a trail run. Plus, I hate bugs in my teeth, I get it enough on my motorbike.

This is not the way I would do it but, you may want to read the owners manual. I would just start tacking stuff off and then put it back together and discard the extra nuts or bolts (there obviously not needed).

I wanted to try this when I first got my Jeep, just because you can, but after reading about it I don't think it's worth it, at least not on the JK.

Anyway, have you seen this thread?

We had to do it when we replaced our windshield. I would not recommend it!

A sawzall or plasma cutter should make relatively quick work of it.

WOW this is not right looking at pixs and reading about it, it’s just not like Jeep advertising in there official catalog if you look at the photos they are so beautiful you can not even see the mirror of plastic guides around the windshield. They must have removed everything to make it look nice. My old defender had only 4 screws to fold the windshield and my understanding is the older model Jeeps wore the same way few screws and off the road you went.

My old CJ7 had two big knob bolts, that was it to put the window down. I think the designers of the JK didn't really want you to put it down, but they had make it available because of the tradition on the Jeep line.
