Rubicon Trail Aug 12 to Aug 15
there is a difference between the "jeepers jamboree" and the "jeep jamboree". the jeepers jamboree is going on now and they typically see 400 or more rigs on the trail. the jeep jamboree is more family oriented and much smaller. apparently, it's too small this year.
400!
400 or more depending on the year. trust me, we've been on it and it's a crazy drunken orgy - definitely NOT for kids and that's why they have an age restriction. the jeep jamboree or even the jeep jamboree usa are much more tame and family friendly.
what a bummer
You are not the only ones, with this Idea.

things are kind of up in the air right now for us. we were supposed to be up here in tahoe for another week but need to come home tomorrow to take care of business and try to get our esp/abs problem fixed. there are 6 canadians that have contacted me asking if i could lead them through the rubicon but, i think they wanted to go later in the month. i will have to see where we're at with our jeep and time before i can commit to anything.

WOWOWOWOWOW! The Jeep Jamboree called and they canceled the event first time in 56 years
Jeff the Insurance Guy and I were both signed up for this trip and are so disappointed that they canceled!
So…… we decided to go anyway and run it on our own!!!
We are looking for a couple of fellow brave JK-Forum friends who would want to go with us. Maximum of 5 JK’s.
Here is our plan!
Short plan: Drive up there spend the night at hotel, hit the trail and do whatever we want for 2 days and nights!
Long Plan, still pretty short:
We are going to drive up on the 12th and stay the night in Georgetown @ Hill Top Motel.
On Friday morning the 13th head to Loon Lake, run the trail and spend the night
at Spider Lake, or Rubicon Springs.
On Saturday the 14th maybe back track a little and re-run some fun areas, play around on the trail for the day, explore loon lake etc. camp again
On Sunday the 15th head out Cadillac hill and we are staying the night in Tahoe and are winging it as to what hotel we will stay at.
Monday drive home
Minimum requirements are: Modified JK with 37’ tires and 2 lockers, cb, ice chest full of beer
.
Disclaimer: We are out for a fun run, we are winging the plan, we are not qualified trail leaders, and most importantly….we are not as prepared as Wayolife!
P.S. I’ll bring plenty of gummy bears….(inside joke from So Cal Rubicon JK-Forum Run.)

Just an FYI, you mentioned possibly camping at Spider Lake. Camping at Spider has been prohibited for about 5 years now due in large to all the toilet paper that people use to leave on the ground. It seems there is very little top soil to dig holes to bury the TP so they closed the lake to camping.
