February 29th Ocala National Forest ride
When: Saturday February 29th
Where: Ocala National Forest
Meetup: CircleK corner of 19 & 42 in Altoona at 9:30 am, leave out at 10:00.
A nice selection of forest roads and trails. This is stock Jeep friendly, but there is a strong possibility of Ocala pinstripes from brush.
Meeting/Start/Finish point: 9:30AM...Kangaroo Express, Altoona. Coordinates 28.96648,-81.64795. Corner of SR19 and SR42. Roll out at 10:00AM.
Distance: This is a long trail ride....basically 70 miles off pavement and about 82 total miles.
Estimated time: 6 to 7 hours.
Trail types: Sugar sand, some mud, small water crossings, hills, forest roads.
Lunch: We will stop for lunch, so be sure to bring one.
Radios: We will be operating on CB - channel 4
The ride will basically be in 3 parts. Part 1 - Paisley area to lunch break. Part 2 - South of Pine Castle Bombing Range to "play stop." Part 3 - West Edge to the South.
