Trails @ Ft. Knox
To those of you Army Jeepers around Ft. Knox, the training areas are open for hunting/fishing/4-wheeling as long as you check in at the MWR office first, so as to avoid getting shot by a tank. Its off the traffic circle next to the main library. See you out there!
Oskee6,
I wish this were true, but...Not sure who you talked to at MWR but this is not correct. FT Knox Regulations specifically forbid the operation of POVs on the trails in the training area. You aren't even supposed to drive on the improved roads with a POV without a special range pass. Even when range control opens areas for hunting (only on certain days) you are still generally not authorized to use a POV on training area trails. You drive to the hunting area and park on the road, and then you have to walk in. If you get caught the ramifications are not good. Call range control. They control the training area, not MWR. This really sucks because there are plenty of great trails out there but it's not worth it. It even gets a bit dicey on the auto insurance side of the house if you were to damage your vehicle. They might not cover it.
