A SEMA exclusive Sneak Peak at Superchips new in cabin programmer

Here is an exclusive sneak peek at Superchips next generation in cabin tuning product the VIVID being shown for the first time at SEMA this week. The VIVID is an android based product that offers a wide variety of apps and options. Look for its release around February of 2011.

wow this is a cool product.. will it come with the Archos? or be an android app that can be ran on any Android OS device?

Any iOS love (iPad specifically) or iPhone????

its cool, but limiting it to the android OS kinda sucks. im guessing maybe its an issue with apple licensing or something similar.

yea... not cool. they are really limiting their market.

I wouldn't say they are limiting their market as of yet. Android is available on many more platforms than iOS is at this moment. It makes sense to develop for something that has a potentially wider customer base to start. If this was 2 years ago, I would agree that the iPhone app should have been first.

Also, that said, it is probably easier to integrate the needed hardware connections into an Android platform than it is into an iOS platform due to the connection restrictions that apple has (their dedicated iPod cable).

Hopefully after this product is released the will look towards iOS so apple users (like myself) will have access to what looks to be an amazing product.

All that said, is this a hardware/software bundle or can we load this on any Android based product? Will it have a mini-usb to (I cant remember the name of the dock in the jeep) the jeep plug?

From the information above, it looks like you're buying the device with the software. Not just a software package for an existing Android device.

Sorry, I don't have data to say yes or no on if Apple products will apply at this point. There is a possibility that the lack of Apple compatability being listed is because Apple was possibly unwilling to provide crutial data on their OS to let us create a program for their products similar to how they reacted to Adobe's requests recently but don't quote me on that till I have more facts.

I will update this thread on the application, product compatability with other devices, and pricing as I get fed more info.

Man that's awesome! Was going to upgrade soon to the SuperChip anyway so maybe I need to hold off until this bad boy is available! :yup:

The Archos will have the app preloaded. I don't know if the application will be able to be used on other Android products at this time but I will se what I can dig up.
