My check engine light popped on the other day. So I instantly stopped bye the local auto zone to get them to run for codes....aparently its a 02 sensor. Bay 1 sensor 2 is what the machine said it was....where is that locayed? And how would I tell the guys at the auto parts store wich one it is I need. Upstream left, downstream left, upstream right, or downstream right??? And any pictures of where it is located so I can replace it would be of help as well....thanks guys and gals

I think what you are referring to is 'bank' 1 and sensor 2...

The bank refers to the side of the motor. I believe Bank 1 is the drivers side, but I am not sure on that. You can double check by reading the plug wires to determine which side of the motor the #1 cylinder lives -- or wait for someone to chime in here

Sensor 2 wold be the downstream sensor.

The breakdown:
Bank 1 or 2 - left or right side of motor.
Sensor 1 - upstream 02 - closest to the motor - used for metering fuel.
Sensor 2 - downstream 02 - after the catalytic converter(s) - used for monitoring emissions.

Bank 1 is the right side of the engine, as seen from sitting in the driver's seat, looking forward.

Sensor 1 (upstream) is the one closest to the engine exhaust manifold.
Sensor 2 (downstream) is the one farthest from the engine exhaust manifold.

What did you have for a code? There are lots of things it could be other than a bad sensor.

Found it, thanks yall....and I'm not sure. He didn't read me the actual code. Just said sensor 2 bank 1. Just talked to a auto mechanic friend of mime amd he suggested running a can of seafoam through the gas tank and that ought to take care of it. Sounds worth giving it a shot. If it doesent work at least I cleaned up my injectors
