Default 08 JK Speedo Not Working

Been doing some research on this one still can't find a solution? My speedometer stopped working as well as the compass and outside air temp gauge. I did the test were you hold the trip meter while turning the key to on still didn't fix the speedo, put in a different dash cluster didn't fix the issue? You guys have any suggestions? The compass and temp will re-adjust at the 1st start of the day, but not every start? And the speedo needle does move during the test? I'm not sure what to do next besides dealer, or a great private mechanic.

That's a puzzler. But, I'll tell you what I'd do next: I'd get my Nexus 7 out, run up the Torque app, and see what's being reported on the CAN bus for the malfunctioning instruments. That is, is the CAN bus reporting correct speed, etc? If you aren't familiar with that app, but have an Android phone or tablet (or a friend with one), you can pick up an OBD Bluetooth adapter cheap--the really cheap ones sometimes don't work, but the $35-35 ones seem to be consistently good. I got mine off Amazon. Torque is available in a free version that should work fine for your needs. Bottom line is that if the CAN bus is misreporting the information, I think you're looking at a dealership visit-but I'd Google with the additional information I learn from Torque and see what I could learn before that.

This was an old way I had my Torque app set up. There's much other info available on it, but this is the only image I have handy.

Thanks guys, I will look into buying a OBD adapter and downloading the Nexus or Torque app. So my next question is...If the app works, then what does that mean?

My guess is the app sould show speedo issues and shouldnt work. I know the cluster is good, so the computer has some issues.

Thanks again...always something
