2008 JKU Auto Shifts
Okay, so I had posted about transmission problems before and it ended up dying so I got it replaced by Aamco a few weeks ago.
Now though, I wonder, is the programming for these things truly this atrocious? It's always so slow to downshift when I want it to, sometimes I have to literally floor it. Overall is just really slow to shift and sometimes clunks into gear in slow city traffic. It's acting the same as the old transmission, almost to the T but this is a new rebuilt.
I'm not worried because it has a warranty but I'm just really curious.

Mine is slow to downshift, too. Not that anything is wrong with it. It's in the programming.
For example, going up a grade on the highway, it will wait longer than I like, and sometimes waits so long it then has to downshift two gears, making the engine rpm go way up.
I manage it with the O/D button. I'll hit it when I want it to downshift, and hit it again near the top of the grade. Works very well.
If I'm on a secondary road, with O/D already off, and I want it to downshift, I just pull back on the shift lever one notch, pushing it forward when the need for the lower gear passes.
That works very well, too.
The O/D button, and the shift lever, are there for these reasons.
