2010 eco mode ,,,,arrghhhhhhh
Hello to all
I just learned today that the ECO MOde on our 2010 JK's , restricts the ability the cost to a stop, instead it cuts the fuel , and stops the Jeep faster, while some might find this feature useful, it is anoying in vermont , where there are many mountainious hills and driving with this feature is not only enoying to me , it is causing the tranny to downshift on its own, see the attached link. I originally thought it had something to do with the hill assist feature, I was wrong, it clearly seems the be this , as what Chrysler states the operation of the Fuel Cut-off feature does. I know it is a Canada Website, but we have this same option in the states as well.

Does anyone on here know if the dealer can turn this program off??? Most vehicles when let off the accerlator , they cost to a stop. Sorry for posting this issue more than once, but this feature is becoming very enoying while driving.

Thanks for any help in advance...

EFI engines have been doing that for decades. I've run diagnostic loggers on cars from the 90s that zero the delivered fuel when the throttle position zeroes, and read books about FI systems from the 70s that claimed those systems did the same. I like it. It should increase engine braking and I can always toss the tranny in neutral or hold partial throttle if I want to slow more gradually.

I drove many vehicles including big rigs at work, and I always get the best ,mileage buy not speeding up to redlights or going over the speed limit, or accelating " JACK Rabbit starts", etc. This is the first vehicle were so much control over the engine and drive train. I love my Jeep, but not this ECO Garbage.
NOt finding fault with the system, just is not for me....

To me, having the ECU deliver gas even though you've got your foot off the throttle is having the ECU drive for you. I don't want it to have that much control over my driving. Holding a little bit of throttle doesn't mean you will accelerate... if your throttle position doesn't overcome drag/rolling resistance you'll smoothly decelerate at a rate based on your throttle position. If you have a red well ahead of you, ease off the gas until you are going a speed you think will give the light time to turn green for you. How much you ease off, from almost holding speed to full engine braking, is your choice and should be dictated by your judgment, not the ECU thinking you want more gas than you are signaling.
I suspect it's just a matter of what you are used to. I've been driving vehicles that did this for years. Diesel and gas, large vehicle and small. I've always thought it was one of the principle benefits of going away from carburetors and 100% mechanical diesel injection systems. It's actually one of the main reasons I didn't like driving American cars and especially Automatic transmissions...the disconnect between what I told the car to do and what it actually did bugged me.
This is totally different from the hill start, which I don't like for exactly the reason I do like this.
Little by little they are taking away our enjoyment in driving with all of this tech garbage, not impressed, Thought it was just me who had this issue with the JK......
.......,,lol
