Default 2010 JK: What's that foghorn noise when I shut engine off?

After I shut off my 2010 JK's motor, I hear a noise that sounds exactly like a distant foghorn. For the first few times I heard it, I thought it was literally that (I'm on the seacoast). Then it started following me... to my garage, the bus stop, work, etc.

Finally I realized it's coming from under the dash or under the hood. It kicks in about 5 to 10 seconds after the motor turns off and lasts for around 3 or 4 seconds.

What is it?

I have always assumed it was the cooling fan or the alternator.

not sure exactly what it is, but it sounds like a pressure release of some kind. Heard it on many cars and trucks... not just the JK.

Nothing to worry about, but still curious as to what it is exactly

Do you all have the Mygig Head Unit?

The hard drive in there makes a noise that you can hear once you turn off the engine and turn down the music or turn off the music. At least on mine you can hear it.
