2010 Rubicon Unlimited Sway Disconnect Module Isses
I have a 2010 wrangler rubicon unlimited & have had to replace the sway control actuator twice already. It was warranty work both times. However, now it has malfunctioned again & Chrysler will not warranty the $1400 part again because they said the bushing on the sway bar where it goes into the housing for the actuator are dry rotted & that is how the water keeps getting into the electronic board that operates the actuator subsequently turning this into a $4000 repair because they said I need a whole new front sway bar & new actuator module. What I would like to do at this point is replace this whole system(sway bar & all), completely bypassing the factory system. I do not need anything electronic & to be honest in 8 years of owning that jeep I have never nor ever plan on using the disconnect. So my 3 questions are 1) any advice on what I can do to bypass & replace? 2) If I completely bypass the factory system, what other systems will be affected by doing so? 3) Recommendation for a potential replacement front sway bar for under $400 if possible?

You have a couple options.. both require a programmer (AEV for sure will, I think the other will also) that will turn off the sway-bar disconnect light that will be flashing when you remove the system. That answers #2 of your questions I think. As for numbers 1 and 3, see below.
Option 1 - replace the disconnect motor with an EVO NoLimits manual sway bar disconnect - https://www.offroadevolution.com/pro...onnect-jk-jku/ Option 2 - replace with a swaybar off of a non-rubicon jeep okay, Option 3 - replace with a Currie Antirock swaybar - https://www.currieenterprises.com/an...sway-bars-home |
Agree with Jedg. Honestly, the EVO knob is probably your best bet.
There has been a sport sway bar hanging out on the Marketplace for cheap - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/market/348953 I'd bet that is probably $20-$25 to ship, and then you'd be looking at another ~$120 for quick disconnects. The Anti-Rocks are great units, but man they are pricey....although not as pricey as the rubi pos e-disco  I'd go with the knob and simply turn what you have in to a manual unit. |
I like the knob idea. I think I am going to pursue that route. Pretty firm believer in the KISS(Keep it simple stupid) process. I appreciate the advice guys. Will let yall know how it turns out.
