Default 2012 automatic pulling pop up camper

Looking for some insight on pulling a fleetwood pop up behind 2012 JK automatic with tow package and 3.73. Camper dry weight is 2610 lbs. adding ac and misc stuff in the camper comes close to 2950 lbs. family and coolers in the jeep would be at max 650 lbs.

Pop up has brakes so will be looking to add controller with boost. Brand recommendations.??? Swap out stock hitch for class III??? Thoughts.. Tranny cooler. Does it have one and if so any recommendations on an upgrade.
90% of trips will be fairly level and less then 300 miles. I think I am ok for those. It is the couple times a year heading into the Shenandoah mts that are concerning me.

Thanks in advance

I have a little bit lighter Flagstaff I've towed a handful of times. I think I'm around 2600 loaded, although I haven't weighed to be sure. I use the Hayes G2 brake controller. We have a couple in our tow vehicles at work, as well as my buddy has one. Works great. The 2012 auto's have a tranny cooler in them, and I haven't thought about swapping it out. I also am using the stock hitch that I got with Max tow, won't be swapping that either.

One thing I would suggest if you haven't gotten there yet... A standard length ball mount will probably not get past the spare tire, so in my case I had to buy another ball mount that was much longer than the first one I bought (12-1/4" from hole to ball).

Also, you will need to wire up a 7 pin connector too, as the Wrangler comes with no provisions for this. I did it, and will be working on a write up soon, PM me if you need something in the mean time. You will definitely notice it back there, however I think it accelerates very well, and shift points seems to be decent. Hope this helps.

I pull a similar size popup with my 07.
Just plan on the slow lane and life will be better. I don't pull over 65mph and keep the od off and feel really good about the results. I have a 2.5" lift and 33's and 4.10 gears. I actually get better gas mileage towing the trailer. My best mileage since lift and tires was this spring pulling the popup through the mountains.
I don't know the 2012 too well but would recommend another transmission cooler even if you have one.
I don't know the diff between the stock class II and other class III receivers. They are both 2" receivers and look the same.
I am using a prodigy p2 and love it. I have used others and this has been the best I have used, I couldn't ask for anything else. I would highly recommend it. I stop better with the trailer than without.
With the loaded trailer and stuff in the jeep, I feel I sag more than I want but it hasn't caused any issues but I am looking into those air bags that go inside the springs.
I think you will be in great shape and be happy with what you have. Feel free to ask any other questions, jeeps and popups are both kind of "interesting/friendly" groups.

I pulled my 19 boat weighing it total 3200lbs because of a heavy trailer.

I felt comfortable but you could feel it. The 3.6 with the auto shifted a lot going up inclines and hills but it always kept the speed I wanted.

My prior 11 you could never maintain speed and it was a manual.

Your borderline with the total weight but at least you have the 4dr and not the 2dr.
