Default 2012 Fuel economy differences

I was looking on fuel economy.gov and comparing different jeeps and the 2012 mpg differences seem a little strange.
-For 07-11 it was always 15/19 no matter what configuration(2dr vs 4dr or manual vs auto)
-For 2012:
2dr manual 17/21
2dr auto 17/21
4dr manual 16/21
4dr auto 16/20

For the 2dr, auto vs manual makes no difference BUT with the 4door manual gets 1mpg difference on highway than auto.
It seems strange that the auto vs manual would make a difference for a 4dr but not for a 2dr.
Also, It seems like the 07-11 jks should have had a slight difference 2dr vs 4dr like the 2012s do.

On my 2008 2dr sahara manual i always avg 19-21mpg on a tank. In a rare, all highway driving tank w/a headwind in my favor situation i coud get upwards of 22 mpg at avg 70m/h. I just traded up for a 2012 Unlimited auto and my mileage sucks right now, 16-17mpg. im also only on the 2nd tank an the jeeps got 350 miles on it... Waiting to see if it improves after the break in

I am getting 19.7mpg on the dash and 19.8 on paper. I have a 2012 jku sport stock. I was surprised how accurate the computer actually is.

I have a 13 or so mile commute each way to work. A little highway, but usually its not a smooth drive during the rush hour to and from ranges from a crawl to 70 MPH.....rest of the commute are secondary roads with lights and stop signs etc. average MPH is around 35 ish.

I have just over 3k on my JK, i get a hair above 16 to 17 MPG on my commute plus a couple runs here and there on weekends all city type driving. These are miles/gallons calculated. The trip computer is usually about 1/2 a MPG off of actual.

I did drive to Ouray CO when i had less then 1000 miles on my JK. Total trip average MPG for all road miles was 19 MPG. I was going 80 MPH for a good portion of the trip, as well as going through mountain grades. Best MPG was from Ouray CO to Green River UT i was getting 20.9 MPG. Trip computer was dead on with my actual calculations. I think the total road miles were around 780 miles for the whole trip.

I have a 2 door Rubi with the 5 speed auto and 4.10 gears.

I'm pretty happy considering i'm getting better MPG and 95 HP more then my old 04 Rubi.......

Just had a 4 hour drive to Moab, 17 on the way (towing an empty trailer), 19.2 on computer, 19 on paper coming back. My old 2008 got a bit better.

I am quite shocked to tell you the truth! Not that these are sippers, but the difference between 17 and 21 is quite a bit.
The other day I varied my freeway speed to experiment with mpgs, but much to my dismay it was stuck in the low 16s to high 16s...
That's with an empty stock Jeep and going between 65 and 85 mph.
I too was shocked how much I am filling up, my first car was a 96 cherokee with the 4.0 liter high output and i feel like i filled that less than my 2012.

Sports or Rubicons (different gearing) you didn't say which?

Well, that's right about that 15/19 number thrown out for 07/11 models. Not bad!

I get 17 with my 35's but then I drive it like I stole it.
