Default 2012 Rubi Oil Changes

All these varying opinions.....
Now I'm trying to get a solid answer. I have about 2,500 miles on my Dozer. Have not done an oil change yet. When should I start, and then at what interval, and what oil. Is 5w 30 the choice or 10w 30, or is there info that something better out there. Help me out guys, what do you do?

Going to do my first change with what the factory recommends. My first change will be at 2960 miles. Will probably do 5k mile changes after this one.

I bought the maintainance plan(first time ever, first time buying a new vehicle.) and they recommend changing the oil less than 4000 miles(in order to not void the warranty) for first and each subsiquent oil change. The dealership used 5w30 MOPAR.

Not sure how oil changes >4000 miles would void your warranty, as long as the oil change indicator didn't come on yet. The manual states it could take up to 8,000 miles for the indicator to come on, but regardless do not go more then 8,000 miles or 6 months between changes.

That said, I did my first one around 1k as suggested by many people to get engine manufacturing gunk out, and about 3500 for the next 2. That latest one I went to Mobil 1 synthetic, and will run about 5-6k.

You should use 5W-30 as suggested on the oil fill cap.

First oil change at 500 miles. This will get all the assembly oils out. Then I switch to synthetic oil and change it every 5000 miles. That's just me.

Doesn't the oil change cap say 5w20 or is the Pentastar a 5w30 spec?
