Default 2012 Rubicon Soft Top - Missing Parts?

I just bought my first wrangler - 2012 Rubicon with hard top. Soft top came with Jeep, and I think it's missing parts. Dealership I bought it from purchased it at auction, so they do not know where the top came from / what brand it was. Second dealer where I went to have it serviced told me it was not a Mopar or Jeep soft top, however, I later located a Chrysler logo on the top. The numbers next to the logo were: 1PJ79 TRMAE then a second row with 39840 10762. There was a sheet with the car (no manual, just this sheet that looks like it might have been printed from online and may not have come with the top) that said Jeep sunrider guide.

The service department at the Jeep dealership said it was missing a bar that runs across the top on each side that secures the soft top. They said it was a "top roof molding"? Where can I find the missing parts?

This is my first jeep and I know nothing about cars. I can't figure out what to do short of replacing the whole soft top, but the one in the car already looks brand new, and I'd rather not spend the money on a full replacement. Can anyone help a girl (and her cute little lab) out??

It sounds like you're missing the door surrounds. Do you have pics of what pieces you have with the soft top as well as any brackets on the rear roll bar (slanted portion for your 4 dr?

I don't have pics yet, since I can't get the hard top off without an assist. I will try to get some tomorrow though. I basically only have the top. It has the front brackets that go in under the visors / above the windshield. Otherwise, it's attached to the back angled bar on both sides (screwed in). There is also a long bar, which I am pretty sure is the piece that the zippered back windshield attaches to.

Could I be missing more than just the door surrounds?

You can find links to install guides on Quadratecs website. This goes for many of the aftermarket products you might be interested in, not just soft tops.

https://www.quadratec.com/sites/defa...s/82213651.pdf

You can also find a bunch of videos on youtube. Watch a few of them after reading through the install docs.

This guide is super helpful, thanks! I've determined that I am missing all of the parts before I & P. Are all of the door surround, door rails, etc. the same for 2007-2018 soft tops? Does it matter where I get those missing parts from?

Those factory parts are pretty pricey. I would probably look around on Craigslist for door surrounds. You'll also need the clamp for the rear window bar to snap in to, and bolts to hold the door surrounds to the roll bar. The cost for those bolts is stupid. I needed some and ended up just buying some flange bolts at the local hardware store that work just fine. It sounds like you maybe already have the 2 brackets that attached to the rear rollbar and which the soft top mounts to.

Assume you have the windows as well even though not pictured. The bar is for the rear window.

So, you indeed do need the 2 blocks for the rear tailgate, the 4 door surround pieces, and the 6 bolts that hold the door surrounds to the rollbars.

Here are the parts.....these are crazy prices:
2 of these - https://www.quadratec.com/products/11132_9041.htm
4 of these - https://www.quadratec.com/products/11132_9040.htm

If you can deal with non-fancy flange bolts that will get the job done, you can get those at hardware store for $10 total probably. You can look at aftermarket door surrounds like Bestop which I believe would work (someone can correct me if wrong), but I'd look for a used set on Craigslist. Obvioulsy that market will vary based on location. You might find those rear blocks out on CL as well. Guy here in the DFW been trying to sell a set for $5 for a couple months now it seems.

Round here, old soft tops can go as cheap as $150 on CL with all the hardware. If you can find one in sub par shape, might be worth buying one just to get the hardware you need, then try to flip the frame from the CL top to someone else for a few bucks.

I would note that there were small differences with the very early model soft tops. You'd want to be careful not to buy used door surrounds from an '07-'10 I think it is. Someone can correct me.
