2012 throwout bearing problems / noises
I Took my new 2012 rubicon 6 spd out for the first time yesterday now I have a slight squeal that goes away when I press the clutch in it also makes this noise while driving. I have read about this being a problem on the 6 spd tj and jks. All the threads i found are from 2008 - 2010 and alot of them talk about replacing both TOB and clutch and some times the tranny and multiple people have had it done several times. Does any one have a solution, is the a upgrade TOB or a common fix PLEASE HELP
My 07 has a slight squeal under acceleration tip in and cruising but it goes away under full coast or hard acceleration. Mine does have one of the bad clutches, but I thought that was fixed after 07-08?
If your noise sounds like mine, I have 73k+ miles on my original squealing clutch with no problems other then annoying noises...I know its not an answer, just giving you my experience.

I just answered this in a pm but for the benefit of everyone else...
I just had the dealer fix this problem for me, they said it was a bad clutch bearing. They replaced it under warranty and I had my jeep back in about 24 hours. Definitely don't write this off as jeep noise like some of the idiots on here will tell you.

Had 31K on my Rubicon when I purchased it The sound showed up on the 150 mile drive home I had a Jeep dealer look at it they said it was a squeak because of a shield being loose, this took a week. They were wrong, it was back within 24hrs. I asked about the throwout bearing the dealer had records showing it was replaced at 29K someplace in KS. I told the dealer that I did not want to continue to have the jeep in the shop over and over because they could not solve the problem. The Service Tech did some reading on forums like this and talked to a few people he then pulled the Transmission. They replaced the input shaft bearing and some other bearings under the 3year 36mo I told them as long as they had it apart I wanted the clutch replaced (no labor cost now vs later). I could not get a aftermarket clutch in a timely manner (two weeks min) and I called about anyone I could think of to find a quality aftermarket clutch I finally caved and took the factory clutch after they discounted it from $450 to $275. Long story short my Service Tech did some research fixed what he thought was the problem I paid to have a 33K mile clutch replaced. I dont have the squeak anymore and I have the piece of mind knowing what the clutch has seen since I have owned the jeep.
Maybe this hasn't addressed your question very well but I would continue to ask questions, common sense would tell you if something is squeaking its because of friction of some sort and things should be tight or they should slide (friction) with out a noticeable finger nail on a chalk board type of sound.

Maybe you need to know a little more about the problem before you start calling people on here idiots because it is a jeep noise. Mine started doing it the day I drove it off the lot. Now with 65000 miles on it still no probs with the clutch or tranny. If you knew more about the problem then the vague description your service guy gave you then some of your input might be useful. By the way your squeak will come back because they didn't fix your preload just ur throwout bearing. If this under warranty let them "fix" it but it will return until u replace the clutch and pressure plate with a good aftermarket like centerforce or spec. Do not ever depress your clutch in water. Do to an opening in the bottom of the bell housing depressing the clutch in water or mud allows the bell housing to fill with the water or mud. You will have the squeak back really fast if you do this. So it is a jeep thing and annoying but it won't crap out on you. What do I know tho I'm an idiot.

Ok u got me I may be a douche bag but not an idiot. It is not supposed to squeak but it does and I explained why in my first post. Your post would have been fine if you didn't go calling people on here idiots. I know these jks very well and do all mods and repairs myself on my jk. Their are people on here that can take these things apart in their sleep and put them back together and you want to call me and them idiots because we actually know what the op's problems is and how to fix it. Sounds like u may be a douche as well my friend. Good day to you sure. To the op I hope you get this worked out because I know it is annoying I have lived with it since about 60 miles on the jeep. I hope some of my idiotic douche bag comments and knowledge on the issue at hand has helped.
Oh and by the way... using U and their instead of there doesn't really make you look like less of an idiot. "Good day to you sure."
