2013 Oil Bypass Valve
Hey guys and gals - got a 2013 jeep with a broken oil bypass valve - that appears to be no big deal as i can get the $26 part from a local auto parts store. My problem is that the mesh post that the oil bypass valve fits into within the adapter engine oil filter also broke. (See pic below). That is a ~$250 part which looks like a PITA to replace (especially given it is just that silly plastic piece that needs repair). It may be that I can buy the ~$250 part and scavenge the 5 cent plastic piece from it, and that may be easier to repair, but that seems silly. Is this indeed my only option for a fix? Or do you folks have any other clever ideas?
Thanks in advance. Eric https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.jk-...8101268752.jpg |
You might find this 10 min video very informative.. There is mention on the part that is broken in your pictures.

Yes, thanks. I considered that, but there are problems with the 2014 replacement part as well.

The 2014 edition is also the same as used all the way up to 2018 JKs,, not sure if it still used in JLs. In looking at the total #s of Wranglers sold the issue is not much.. not much at all.

One would think the aftermarket has some mod out to fix these weak links in an otherwise good engine.
