Default 285/75r16?

Prob a stupid question but, could I run a 285/75R16 tire on the stock 16" steel rims? I do have 1.5" wheel spacers.

Would 265 75's fit without spacers on a stock, non-lifted 2012? The Duratecs measure 31.7", which would seem to put them pretty close to the size of the Rubicom tires. I don't know about the width though.

Yes they will. A buddy just put 265/75/16s BFG AT's on his 12 JK. No issues.

I have 265/75/16 Duratracs on XD Bully wheels on my '12....They fit fine and I was surprised when I measured them when I was going to recalibrate with the ProCal and they measured out to only 30.5"....

DO NOT BUY THIS SIZE!!!! I bought them and ended up taking a $300 hit going to a 305/70/R16. The 265's looked big enough for about a week. Then after looking around on here at the 33's/35's thread I started noticing things I didn't like about them. On stock rims they will sit about an inch inside the wheel well. When you look at it something about it just doesn't look right. Don't waste your money on the 265/75 R16's. You can fit 33s easy on a JK with no lift. Definitely do a lot of research and don't be impatient when you're about to spend $1000+ on tires. Here are some of my pictures so you can get some sort of a comparison
