2WD Question
My neighbor bought a 2007 4dr for his son a few months ago as a College graduation present. It is only a 2WD. He wants to add 33"-35" tires mainly for looks. What gears are in the Unlimited X 2WD? Can they handle 35" tires? Are they the same in the rear as the 4WD? I couldn't find the answer but knew one of you guys would know!! Thanks.

2wd can handle any tire a 4wd can and that means you will have to beef up the front axle the same to if you go bigger and bigger , as far as gears there are a couple of ways to find out but the easiest is to get a build sheet , but everthing is the same in the rear

I think all the 2wd had a d35 in back and I can't remember the gear, might have been 3.73.
I would stick with 33, but that's just me. |
I just saw a post about build sheets on jeep.com and told my neighbor.
He signed up and just called me. Come to find out he has Dana 44 with a 4.10 ratio. Is higher or lower better? I am not familiar on how the gearing works. |
2wd have and all wrangler execpt rubi's ( different spline count but still a 44)have a Dana 44 in the rear , 4.10 gears are fine for the most part but he needs to figure out what size tires he wants before he thanks about regearing first and he can run what ever tire size he wants as long as he wants to beef up the axle

I got a 2wd. but almost have all the parts to do the conversion. :). Back to the op. I have a d30 in the front and a d44 in the back with 4.10's. It's lifted and has 33's. It drives pretty good.
