3.6L break-in

So I have a 2012 jeep jk with a 2013 3.6L. Yeah long story haha. Well anyways story gets longer. So I just did the piston rings on it. I'm bolting everything back together but my question is...

Do I have to use break in oil in it?

I did use assembly lube on all the bearings and am wondering if I need to.

And I also wanted to know if their was a break I process on these motors?

Thanks
Colby

I would. Hell, if it wasn't so expensive I'd use it all the time.

So you would say use it to seat the rings properly?

Yes, i would for sure take it through a break in period after having the top off the motor.

Yeah I'm just gonna do what is recommended just take it easy for 500-1000 miles with short bursts of "heavier" throttle" but I just gotta find out if I need to use this break In oil additive that I can't find locally. -_-

Yep. I'm sure if you stop by the parts department at your local dealership they can order you some actual break-in oil, but just to warn you, it's pretty expensive. Go through the normal break in process and then do your oil changes after that as regular ones. (Using whatever oil you prefer). As long as you did everything correctly you should be golden. Just stay out of lakes lol

just buy the cheapest oil you can find and run it for 100 miles and dump it out.

Don't do that ^

Especially if you're like me and run 100 miles every 2 days. Waste of time and money.

Many people have zero issues with their engine break-ins, problem is that if you do have issues that the break-in oil would prevent your engine may not go 100 miles. Break in oil has zinc in it designed to keep metal parts from grinding on each other when soft so....bad... I don't know all about it, I've heard you don't really need it for certain parts but I've never done a partial rebuild so I never looked into it. Don't even know how long you should run it as I've always changed it after a cam break in period.
