No problems yet at 43k. I went to the dealer for oil changes up to 36k, after that I have been going to a vavoline quick stop, using the basic req oil and filter. I've been thinking about using a synthetic soon just b/c of wear and tear.

The only issue I have had was a loose exhaust manifold; that blew the gasket, which required all the gaskets to be replaced; all covered under warranty...

35k on a used 07 Sahara. I bought it in April (at Carmax) and just found out that it's burning a lot of oil. Got a surprise when my oil light starting flickering. Pulled over right away, checked oil, and walked over to the auto parts store. My first Jeep so didn't realize this was an issue. Engine was almost 4 quarts low. Refilled and no knocking or anything so I think I'm ok. Going to try switching to 5w-30.

I bought mine used, w/20,000 miles on it I think it was a lease or rental w/ pretty regular maintenence I suspect & at my first oil change I switched to 5w/20 synthetic @ dealer every 3,000 mis. I was driving so much I switched to regyular oil last change due to cost & going to change this wk @ 37,xxx mis. No problems to report here!

Spun number one Main Bearing @ 45k miles. Damage to crank, journals, who knows how much metal went through the engine. Hopefully the filter caught it all. In the process of tearing the engine out and getting a look inside.

I know those of us that have had similar issues with engine problems are WAY in the minority, but it is a shame that Jeep didn't stick with the 4.0L Straight 6. I realize that no other Chrysler vehicle used that motor, but it was just about bullet-proof.

I feel for you bro :( I know what you mean about the 4.0L as well. I know their tooling investments must have been paid off by now at least.
