4.10s alright for 35's on rubi?
Hey guys. Im putting on a 2.5" teraflex lift and 35's. I dont do alot of wheelin, but more hyway driving. Will i still be ok with 4.10 gears and 35's? Thanks
Depends. 2-door or four-door? Auto or 6 speed? You'll do better with a 6 speed. Are you happy with the performance now, or do you already think it's anemic? Your terrain matters as well, if you have hills and higher elevation it will take a bigger hit with the larger, heavier tires. Off-road the 4:1 t-case will help your cause, more than likely on-road is where you'll have bigger issues (depending on above variables).
I have a rubi 2door on 35s auto. I'm happy the way it is, I've had numerous vehicles thatI've changed gears on, and I feel that gears are too overated, I´m sure a lot of guys would disagree with this, but I would not change gears right now is not worth the hassle or price IMO. on a different note, if I want to go fast I just won't drive the jeep.
I have a Rubi with 4:10 auto on a 4 door.
2.5" BB and 35's
It is great up to about 70 mph. Then I turn off the overdrive and its fine unless there is a stong headwind.
Depends what type of driving you do and how much power you like to have underfoot.

i have a similar set up as yours, and i couldnt handle the 4:10's! it was ok on flat terrain but any hills and it was just a p.i.t.a.! but i didnt want to spend the 1,200 dollars on a gear swap so i just dealt with it until i took it to the mountains one day with the family and it that was it! before i made it to the top i decided i didnt care how much it cost, i was doing the gear swap. so, like it was mentioned in an earlier post, if you are going to stay on flat terrrain and you are not concerned with speed or power, then you should be ok. but if moving like a turtle up hills will bother you, then a gear swap will make driving your jk more enjoyable. keep the 4:10's for a while and see what you think (but set some money aside just in case).
08 Sahara here - Auto - Still on stocker 3.73s. No issues and if I hadn't read about this here, I never would have believed folks think they need to upgrade just to run 35s... You downshift going up hills but that was normal even with the stock 32" tires.

My jeep is a 4 door 6 speed. And im up there in elevation, i live at 7100 feet! not sure what to do. I put on an intake, would a exaust and a chip help me or just bett off changing gears if thats what i decide, and what gears? Thanks guys for all you help!
I have a '07 4 dr Jk X, Auto. 3" lift w/ 35's. I had factory 4:10's, and re-geared to 5:13's. Net result is I lost 3-4 mpg highway, but I have slightly more torque now. My mpg was down 5-6 before I re-geared. IMO many who say no need to re-gear perhaps have never had the experience of a before/after gear swap. Re-gearing is an expensive option, but it is "top-o-the-line"!! I have seen alot of folks here say 4:88/manual/35", and 5:13/auto/35". I am very satisfied with my set-up.
Have a Rubi with the 2.5 lift and 35's for the last 2 years, and do alot of highway and city driving commuting to and from Whistler to Vancouver (lots of mountain terrain) and have had no problem with the stock 410's......I wheel quite a bit too and am satisfied with the gearing, easily liveable. Also have to mention mines a 6 spd, have an intake and Exhaust though and it does help out.
Drove a friend of mines 4dr JK Rubi with similar mods (lift, 35's,6spd) without intake and exhaust, and mine was felt like night and day power difference.
If you have an auto, I suggest the intake and exhaust....
